Plaid's DEI&B Investments
Through its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) programs, Plaid strives to build a community of perspectives and experiences as diverse as its end users, where authenticity is celebrated and everyone has an equal opportunity to grow and impact the company's mission. Plaid aligns its DEIB work around four pillars: how we hire, how we grow, how we work, and how we build.
Some of Plaids goals for 2021
- In 2021, Plaid plans to invest a minimum of $250,000 in partnerships with companies like Valence, NextPlay, and others, that will allow Plaid to expand its reach and improve engagement with candidates from diverse background
- Continue to invest in initiatives (e.g. Plaid’s Apprenticeship program) that seek to bring people from diverse backgrounds into technology
- Increase transparency for Plaid’s internal mobility options, including more frequent posting of Plaid’s internal jobs board, as well as more detailed explanations of Plaid’s transfer, promotion, and relocation processes
- Invest in Plaid Community Groups (also known as Employee Resource Groups) to ensure they have foundations that will enable them to scale
Plaid defines URG (underrepresented group) as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islanders, two or more races that include one of the above, and LGBTQ+.>
Plaid has been adding more women to its engineering team since 2017, increasing female representation by more than 4x.
Plaid’s seven principles guide everything they do—from quarterly planning and product development to emails and daily interactions.
Constantly strive to learn and improve—as individuals, as teams, and as a company. Foster a culture of feedback, delivered frequently and empathetically.
The work is designed to create extraordinary outcomes for consumers and customers. Prioritize work based on the lasting impact it creates.
Embrace openness and positivity
Be Intentional with one's openness—or clear when one cannot be. Approach both relationships and challenges with optimism.
Make it better
Every employee is an owner of Plaid. Do not seek perfection; rather, strive for valuable, pragmatic improvements to the products, the company, and the craft.
Think rigorously; act with urgency
Work diligently to make sound decisions—but recognize that speed matters. Act with urgency to bring the work to the world.
Consumer outcomes via customer love
Plaid exists to improve outcomes for customers. The primary way to achieve that is through the love and loyalty of Plaid customers.
